Pulitzer Center Grants for Reporting Projects

About this program

The Pulitzer Center offers rolling grants to journalists—including writers, photographers, radio producers, and filmmakers, both staff and freelance—to cover hard reporting costs for projects investigating underreported global systemic crises. Grants may support travel, lodging, local partners, translators, data work, and other direct expenses, but exclude stipends, overhead, equipment purchases, books, feature-length films, and routine breaking news. Applicants must submit an English-language project summary of no more than 250 words, a publication and distribution plan, preliminary budget, three published work samples, three professional references, and a CV. Projects in hostile or conflict environments require adherence to ACOS Alliance safety principles, and freelancers must have a firm assignment from a news organization accepting responsibility for their safety.
