Pulitzer Center Reporting Grants

About this program

The Pulitzer Center offers rolling grants to journalists—including writers, photographers, radio producers, filmmakers, staff journalists, and freelancers—to cover hard reporting costs for projects addressing underreported global systemic crises. Funding may support travel, lodging, meals, transportation, reporting partners, translators, records requests, and data analysis, but not stipends, equipment purchases, overhead, books, or routine breaking news. Applicants must submit a 250-word project description in English, a detailed publication and distribution plan with editor or outlet interest, a preliminary budget, three published work samples, three professional references, and a CV. Freelancers reporting from hostile or conflict environments must have a firm assignment from a news organization responsible for their safety and follow ACOS Alliance principles.
