Ralph E. Roughton Paper Award

The American Psychoanalytic Association’s Committee on Gender & Sexuality offers the Ralph E. Roughton Paper Award for an unpublished manuscript making an original contribution to the psychoanalytic understanding or treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, trans*, or gender-variant people. The award includes a $1,000 prize and an invitation to present the paper at APsA’s National Meeting, with potential submission to the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association. Applicants may come from any institutional affiliation; manuscripts must be unpublished, no more than 30 double-spaced pages, formatted according to journal guidelines, and submitted by June 1 with a separate document providing author information.
