René M. Vandervelde Research Grant (Korite-sponsored)

The Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences (AAPS), with corporate sponsorship from Korite International, offers the René M. Vandervelde Research Grant, a $1,000 annual award to support scientific research and publications on the fauna and flora of the Late Cretaceous Pierre and Bearpaw Shales of North America. Applicants must be qualified students or researchers working in marine paleontology, geology, or stratigraphy of these deposits. Required materials are a letter of application outlining the project and need, a brief research synopsis (≤2 pages), letters of recommendation, a CV or college transcript, and a current photograph (≥400×600 px, 72 dpi); applications are reviewed by the AAPS Board and a Korite representative and approved by AAPS membership. Applications are due annually by November 1; international awardees must have a bank account able to receive U.S. wire transfers, as checks will not be mailed abroad.
