About this program

The ACS Committee on Minority Affairs offers the Stanley C. Israel Regional Award to recognize individuals and institutions who have advanced inclusion and belonging in the chemical sciences and fostered activities promoting diversity within their ACS region. Recipients receive $1,250 to support their inclusion work, plus travel reimbursement up to $1,500 to attend the regional meeting where the award is presented. Nominees must reside in the ACS region of their chosen meeting, have created and sustained programs that increase participation of underrepresented groups, persons with disabilities, or women in chemistry, and are ineligible if they are international applicants. Self-nominations are accepted with a one- to two-page essay describing contributions to diversity and inclusiveness, along with a CV or organizational summary of relevant activities.
