About this program

The Purple Martin Conservation Association (PMCA), a nonprofit dedicated to Purple Martin conservation, offers annual one-year research and conservation grants of approximately $500–$2,500 to support scientific studies, conservation activities, travel, supplies, and equipment. Projects should focus primarily on Purple Martins, though studies of other New World swallows or cavity-nesting species may be considered, particularly for threatened or endangered species; salaries, institutional overhead, martin-house design preference studies, and purely aesthetic housing are excluded. Students, professionals, and individuals may apply by February 15 with a concise proposal, detailed methodology and budget, institutional affiliation, schedule, and documentation of required permits or approvals. Awardees must provide annual financial and progress reports, a final report, publication plans, and appropriate acknowledgment of PMCA support.
