Resident Abstract Mini Orals and Poster Competition

About this program

The American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) offers the Resident Abstract Mini Orals and Poster Competition, providing senior cardiothoracic surgery residents and congenital heart surgery fellows an opportunity to present clinical or investigative research at the AATS Annual Meeting. Selected participants may present in a mini oral format, and original submissions may be considered for publication in the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery; awardees receive monetary prizes and certificates. Applicants must be in their final year of an eligible cardiothoracic surgery residency or congenital heart surgery fellowship, with international applicants training at an AATS Member’s institution. A brief abstract of no more than 2,500 characters must be submitted online by December 1, 2026; no more than one thoracic and one cardiac submission per institution may be accepted.
