Responsible Computing Challenge funding opportunity

The Mozilla Foundation, jointly with the Mellon Foundation, anticipates awarding grants to 10 U.S. universities or faculty teams in 2026 to develop innovative undergraduate curricula integrating Computer Science and related STEM fields with the Humanities and Social Sciences. Awards of up to $125,000 per institution over two years will support interdisciplinary pedagogy focused on socially responsible and critical computing. Eligible applicants are accredited U.S. higher education institutions with grant-authorized principal investigators; projects must integrate responsible computing across curricula rather than create standalone ethics courses, engage students and local communities, and openly license project outputs. Grantees must also participate in RCC’s Global Community of Practice.
