Responsible Computing Challenge

About this program

The Mozilla Foundation, jointly with the Mellon Foundation, anticipates awarding grants to 10 U.S. universities or faculty teams in 2026 for innovative interdisciplinary undergraduate curricula connecting computer science and STEM with the humanities and social sciences. Grants of up to $125,000 per institution over two years will support curricular integration, pedagogy, student engagement, and community-informed approaches to responsible computing.

Eligible applicants are accredited U.S. institutions of higher education with principal investigators authorized to administer grants. Proposals must involve interdisciplinary collaboration, meaningful local community participation, undergraduate student engagement, and open licensing of project outputs; standalone ethics courses and projects primarily serving non-undergraduate audiences are ineligible.
