About this program
The Richard Lounsbery Award, jointly administered by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the French Académie des Sciences and supported by the Richard Lounsbery Foundation, is a $75,000 biennial prize recognizing extraordinary scientific achievement in biology and medicine. It is intended to honor scientific excellence while stimulating research and encouraging reciprocal scientific exchanges between the United States and France. Eligible nominees are French or American scientists no older than 45; nominations for the 2027 award are accepted until Monday, October 5, 2026.
