RMS Early Career Award

About this program

The Royal Microscopical Society offers the RMS Early Career Award to recognise outstanding early career imaging scientists for contributions to microscopy, image analysis or flow cytometry, with the 2026 application closed and the 2027 window opening in early 2027. Eligible applicants are current undergraduate, postgraduate (Masters/PhD) students or researchers within eight years of starting microscopy‑related work or study (career gaps excluded). Applications must include an Applicant Statement (max 300 words plus up to one figure) and a one‑page Letter of Support from the applicant’s line manager/supervisor; an optional confidential 50‑word statement may be submitted to disclose barriers to achievement. Shortlisted finalists give a 5‑minute in‑person flash talk at the RMS meeting (finalists may claim up to £200 travel/accommodation) and the winner receives the RMS Early Career Award and a £100 cash prize.
