Robert J. McNamara Student Paper Award

About this program

The Association for the Sociology of Religion (ASR) offers the Robert J. McNamara Student Paper Award to recognize outstanding graduate-level scholarship in the sociology of religion, presented with a certificate and a $500 cash award (divided among co-authors). Papers may be unpublished, accepted, or already published and must be in English (or translated); submissions are limited to 40 double-spaced single-sided pages inclusive (text max 12,000 words) with a title page containing an abstract of ≤200 words, and must be submitted electronically via the ASR member portal by May 29 at 11:59 PM EST. Eligible applicants are currently enrolled graduate students who have not defended their doctoral dissertation at time of submission, all authors and co-authors must be ASR members, and only one paper may be submitted per graduate student per year.
