About this program
The American Folklore Society’s Roger Welsch Opportunity Fund provides annual travel and registration support for attendance at the AFS Annual Meeting. The endowed fund honors Nebraska folklorist and storyteller Roger Welsch and promotes professional networking and learning in folklore. Applicants must be practicing professional folklorists or students who are new to AFS; applications for the next grant cycle will be posted in spring 2026.
