About this program

American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) offers the Ronald and Wendy Smith Clinical Research Grant to fund promising prospective clinical studies in orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery with practical application (examples include analyses of cost or outcomes, complication prevention strategies, and multidisciplinary approaches). Projects may request up to $25,000 and the award can be renewed for a second year (maximum $45,000 over two years); funded projects are expected to be presented at AOFAS meetings and submitted to Foot & Ankle International, with the aim of positioning investigators for larger-scale funding. Eligibility is limited to AOFAS members in good standing—either the principal investigator or a co-investigator must be an Active, Candidate, International, or Associate member; inquiries may be directed to research@aofas.org.
