Ruth Stone Prize

About this program

The Society for Ethnomusicology awards the annual Ruth Stone Prize to recognize the most distinguished English-language first monograph in ethnomusicology, with a $300 cash prize. Eligible books must have been published within the previous two years according to the copyright date; second editions, edited collections, and textbooks are excluded. Authors, publishers, or other nominators may submit one title per cycle by providing four hard or digital copies by April 1.
