SAH David B. Brownlee Dissertation Award

The Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) awards the David B. Brownlee Dissertation Award to recognize the most outstanding doctoral dissertation in architectural history; applications for the 2027 award open in June 2026. The prize honors work that demonstrates thorough primary research, original analysis, and exceptional writing, with no geographical or chronological limitations on subject matter. Applicants must have completed their doctoral dissertation within the two years prior to the submission date and submit materials according to SAH’s application guidelines.
