Saleem Shah Early Career Award

About this program

The American Psychology-Law Society (AP-LS) and the American Academy of Forensic Psychology (AAFP) co-sponsor the Saleem Shah Early Career Award to recognize early career excellence and contributions to psychology and law—particularly in forensic practice, research, or public policy—with two annual awards (one clinical, one experimental); each recipient receives a plaque, $1,000, and delivers the Saleem Shah Address at the AP-LS Annual Conference. Eligible candidates must have earned a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., M.D., or Ed.D.) or a Juris Doctorate within the last 10 years (the most recent eligible degree is used if multiple degrees apply); self-nominations are not accepted. Nominations (PDF or Word) including a nomination letter detailing the nominee’s contributions and a copy of the nominee’s vita must be emailed to the President-Elect of AAFP by midnight EST on November 30, 2026; selections are made by an AAFP-organized committee with joint AAFP/AP-LS representation.
