Salomon Bartnicki-Garcia Award

About this program

The Mycological Society of America’s Salomon Bartnicki-Garcia Award honors Dr. Bartnicki-Garcia and supports early-career mycologists working in biochemistry, genetics, and cell biology, with monetary awards (amount unspecified) disbursed after the MSA annual meeting. Eligible applicants are graduate students and undergraduates conducting senior honors–level research who are current MSA members or have applied for membership; indirect costs are not allowed. Required materials include an application form with career goals, a curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages), a one-page single-spaced research project description with a short budget, and a letter of support from the major professor submitted directly by the recommender; awardees must attend the MSA meeting, complete W-9/W-8 forms before payment, submit a short bio and photo promptly, contribute a short MSA article within one year, and file a detailed final report within two years.
