Samsung START Program (Strategic Alliance for Research and Technology)

About this program

Samsung's START (Strategic Alliance for Research and Technology) program is an annual call by Samsung R&D inviting North American universities to receive one‑year grants for collaborative, early‑stage research that develops novel device experiences across its Device eXperience (DX) portfolio. Funding targets frontier, application‑driven work in domains such as AI, 6G, camera/multimedia, AR/VR, digital health, SoC, security, big data, robotics, medical tech and other emerging technologies. Applicants must be universities in North America; proposals are assessed by an industry–academic panel on novelty, feasibility and alignment with Samsung research priorities. Selected projects receive one year of funding with the possibility of extension based on annual results and SRA/Samsung needs.
