Schallek Fellowship — Dissertation fellowship for late-medieval Britain (c.1350-1500)

About this program

The Medieval Academy of America administers the Schallek Fellowship (funded via the Richard III Society–American Branch), awarding $40,000 to an advanced Ph.D. student to support dissertation research and living expenses for one academic year on topics related to late‑medieval Britain (c. 1350–1500). Recipients are required to devote full time to dissertation work and may not hold employment, teaching positions, or pursue other projects during the fellowship. Eligible applicants must be Ph.D. candidates with an approved dissertation proposal, be members of the Medieval Academy by 15 September of the application year, and be U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents; a single PDF combining the proposal and a two‑page plan plus two recommendation letters must be received by 15 October or the application will not be considered.
