Short-Term Research Grants to Pakistan

About this program

The American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) awards annual Short-Term Research Grants of $3,000 to support up to three months of research travel to Pakistan (airfare and living expenses), with travel required between May 1 and December 31; note the program is currently paused and applicants should check back in November 2026. Applicants must be AIPS Individual members in good standing at the time of application and for the award, and must be graduate degree–seeking or hold a graduate degree; there is no citizenship restriction but you must state your citizenship. Awardees are expected to arrange a Pakistani institutional affiliation, are responsible for visa and accommodation arrangements and submitting a final report, US citizens are restricted to Islamabad and Lahore, and the annual application deadline is February 15.
