Sigma Pi Sigma Chapter Project Award

The Society of Physics Students/Sigma Pi Sigma (American Institute of Physics) offers Chapter Project Awards of up to $600 to support chapter inductions and events that engage alumni or increase Sigma Pi Sigma’s visibility on campus and in the local physics community. Funds may be used for modest expenses such as transportation, non‑alcoholic food and beverages, speaker honoraria, entertainment, decorations, invitations, and similar costs for activities like induction dinners, mentorship programs, science-fair participation, and tutoring initiatives. Eligible applicants are Sigma Pi Sigma chapters in good standing; the project leader must be a student member of both Sigma Pi Sigma and SPS, only one proposal per chapter is accepted, and advisor approval is required—applications open September 1 and are due annually November 15 via the online form with required proposal and budget templates. Several awards are chosen by a review panel; awardees must provide institutional tax ID and press contacts, accept the award in FluidReview, and will receive half the award upon acceptance and the remainder after submitting a complete final report by May 31.
