The Sloan Distribution Grant, offered by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation through Film Independent, provides a $50,000 one-time grant to support the distribution of narrative fiction feature films that prominently feature science, technology, or economics. The grant aims to assist filmmakers in maximizing audience reach and distribution strategies for films grounded in real-world scientific, technological, or economic themes. Eligibility is limited to U.S. legal resident producers of narrative fiction feature films (minimum 70 minutes) entering the distribution phase, with a focus on innovative marketing and distribution plans. Films must depict themes, stories, or characters rooted in science, technology, or economics, and feature scientists, engineers, or mathematicians as leading characters.
