Small Project Assistance

About this program

The American Sexually Transmitted Diseases Association (ASTDA) offers Small Project Assistance (SPA) awards of up to $5,000 for early-career investigators and practitioners conducting focused, short-term projects in sexually transmitted infection research, practice, or innovation. Funds may support pilot data collection, targeted analyses, tool or protocol development, short-term field or laboratory activities, and project-related training, but not general salary, ongoing operations, retrospective costs, or conference travel. Eligible applicants are individuals, not industry or for-profit organizations, and projects requiring IRB, IACUC, or other regulatory approval must obtain approval before funds are released; priority is given to applicants in the U.S. or Canada and those without a recent SPA or Summer Fellowship award. Applications are currently closed and are scheduled to reopen December 1.
