SMART Grant — Supporting Meaningful Analysis and Research in Reproductive Technologies

About this program

The Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) offers the SMART Grant to support research that fills underfunded gaps in fertility knowledge by analyzing real‑world data (e.g., BORN) to improve patient outcomes, clinical practice, and access to fertility treatments across Canada. Projects should address clinical trends, treatment outcomes, access or delivery models and demonstrate scientific and clinical merit, feasibility, appropriate use of real‑world data, and alignment with CFAS goals. Applicants must be CFAS members in good standing (one proposal per member per year) and submit via the CFAS Annual Meeting grant application page, following formatting rules (maximum two pages, 12‑pt Arial; budget may be on a third page) and including required elements such as PI/co‑investigators, aims, study design, sample size, timeline, impact statement, and itemized budget. Awardees must obtain ethics approval where applicable (funds held until proof is provided), submit interim reports at 6 and 12 months, present findings at the CFAS Annual Meeting (or provide a one‑page explanation of delays), and acknowledge CFAS support in outputs.
