Soil Science Research Award

About this program

The Soil Science Research Award, administered by the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA), recognizes outstanding research contributions in soil science and includes a certificate, a complimentary award-ceremony ticket, and $2,000; evaluation emphasizes unusual research creativity, excellence in reasoning or technical/technical skill, and originality and significance to basic soil science. Nominations are accepted annually from January through March 25. Nominators must be SSSA members, and members of the SSSA Awards Committee, SSSA Board of Directors, and the ASA Executive Committee are ineligible to serve as nominators or references; nominees must be living soil scientists (SSSA membership is not required) and former recipients or those same committee/board members are ineligible. Teams are eligible only if at least one member is a soil scientist who contributed 50% or more to the effort, and only publications or honors listing all team members may be cited.
