Solas Awards (Best Travel Story of the Year)

BestTravelWriting.com and Travelers' Tales administer the annual Solas Awards for Best Travel Story of the Year, with Grand Prize (Gold/Silver/Bronze) winners receiving cash, publication on both sites, and consideration for inclusion in the anthology series The Best Travel Writing. Entries must be true travel stories of 750–5,500 words (1,000–3,000 recommended), submitted via the competition website by 21 September 2026, and entrants must control all rights to the submitted piece (previously published work permitted if rights are held by the entrant). Entry fee is $35 for the Grand Prize category (which includes one category) plus $5 for each additional category; if a story is selected for the anthology the publisher pays a $100 honorarium for non‑exclusive world rights, while specific Grand Prize cash amounts are not specified.
