About this program

Heart Research UK offers Spark Grants of up to £25,000 for projects lasting up to 18 months that test novel hypotheses, generate preliminary data, or demonstrate proof of principle to support larger future investments. Proposed research must focus solely on heart disease, demonstrate potential patient benefit, be hypothesis-led, and show a clear path to clinical application. Applications are open to UK-based researchers at universities, research institutions, and NHS Trusts at any career stage, provided lead applicants hold a contract covering the grant period. Applications open in October 2026 and close in early December 2026.
