SPS Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award

The Society of Physics Students (SPS) awards the annual Outstanding SPS Chapter Advisor Award to recognize an advisor who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, student leadership development, support, and encouragement; one recipient receives $6,000 total (60% to the advisor, 20% to the chapter, 20% to the department), and runners-up receive $100 gift cards for chapter activities. Eligible nominees must have overseen an SPS chapter that received an Outstanding Chapter Award within the preceding two years during the advisor’s tenure. Nominations are submitted via an online form by a lead nominator who must be a current SPS student or dues-paying member (nominations open January 2 and are due March 15, with weekend dates moved to the following Monday); the lead nominator may invite additional letter writers (it is suggested to include at least one faculty and one student) and must upload the nominee CV and supporting letters.
