About this program
The Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) awards the Founders Medal annually to recognize an individual’s outstanding leadership and service to the society over a surgical career. The medal is presented during the Opening Session of the SSAT Annual Meeting held in conjunction with Digestive Disease Week. Nominees must demonstrate sustained dedication, leadership, and service to SSAT; prior service as SSAT president is common but not required. The recipient is selected by the Chair of the SSAT Board of Trustees.
