SSSA Early Career Award

About this program

The Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) Early Career Award honors professionals who have made outstanding contributions in soil science within seven years of their terminal degree and includes a certificate, a complimentary award‑ceremony ticket, and $2,000. Candidates are judged on quality of teaching, effectiveness in extension/outreach, significance and originality of basic and/or applied research, private‑sector application achievements, and contributions to public or professional organizations. Nominees must be living SSSA members within seven years of their final degree as of 31 December in the award year; former recipients, teams, and members of the SSSA Awards Committee or Board are ineligible, and Committee/Board members may not serve as nominators or references. Nominations (accepted January through March 25) require a nominator letter and detailed documentation of teaching, extension/service, research, private‑sector contributions, professional service, publications, and honors.
