Stirling Awards Program in Nematology

About this program

Stirling Awards Program in Nematology, funded by the Plant and Soil Nematodes Fund (Dr Graham and Dr Marcelle Stirling) and administered by the Australasian Plant Pathology Society (APPS), supports advancement of plant and soil nematology through Fellowships (up to $10,000), Sub‑doctoral Student Awards (up to $3,000), and Research, Rural and Travel Awards (up to $5,000 each). Eligible applicants are PhD students and early‑career researchers (Fellowships), undergraduate/honours/master’s students (Sub‑doctoral), early‑career scientists (Research), nematologists or consultants/extension personnel in rural roles (Rural), and early‑career nematologists seeking conference/workshop support (Travel); applicants must be financial members of both APPS and the Australasian Association of Nematologists (AAN) when the award is conferred, with non‑member awardees having two years of membership fees deducted from their award. Applications (maximum two pages, project and budget) should be emailed to Dr Graham Stirling (graham.stirling@biolcrop.com.au); deadlines are 31 October for Research, Rural and Travel Grants, and 31 October (for the following calendar year) or 30 April (for the following financial year) for Fellowships and Sub‑doctoral Awards, and recipients must provide a short report or scientific publication for APPS members.
