Student Grants, Scholarships, and Internships (Religion and Cities)

About this program

Morgan State University's Center for the Study of Religion and Cities (CSRC) offers annual student support—including a $500 essay contest scholarship, three $500 grants/scholarships for commissioned work or conference attendance, and two paid stipendiary internships at $15/hr up to 100 hours (max $1,500)—to fund research, creative projects, and community placements on the theme "Religion and Cities." The essay winner receives mentorship with a CSRC board member and assistance to revise for publication, while internships place students with museum, food-security, and housing-justice partners. Applications must be emailed by Dec 20 (Fall) or May 20 (Spring) to ambha1@morgan.edu and include a heading naming the option, a brief description (≤300 words) of what you are applying for and why, a statement of how it relates to "Religion and Cities," and a resume/CV. Preference is given to Morgan students working on religion in Baltimore, but undergraduate and graduate students from any HBCU, TCU, or HSI are also eligible; recipients are chosen by a CSRC selection committee.
