Student Travel Award | PAWS or AWC

About this program

Invasive Species Queensland (ISQ) offers Student Travel Awards of up to AU$2,000 to Queensland undergraduate and postgraduate tertiary students to help cover airfare, accommodation and/or full registration to attend the Australasian Weeds Conference (AWC) or the Pest Animal and Weed Symposium (PAWS). Applicants must be enrolled at an appropriate tertiary institution at time of submission and apply via their Head of Department or immediate supervisor to the ISQ Secretariat before the relevant conference, providing details of their weeds/pest-animal study and practical involvement, external activities, reasons for attending, expected benefits, and a budget with actual quotes or invoices. A three-member ISQ panel will assess applications on study and practical involvement, external engagement, conference relevance, commitment to the field and presentation standard; recipients must submit a written report within two months of attendance, may be asked for a verbal presentation, and must negotiate the return of funds if they are unable to attend.
