Summer Undergraduate Research or Internship Experience in Acoustics (SURIEA)

About this program

The Acoustical Society of America (ASA) funds SURIEA, an 8–10 week paid summer undergraduate research/internship in acoustics that provides a $5,000 take-home stipend, a housing stipend (site-dependent), waived ASA meeting registration and travel funds, virtual professional development and cohort meetings, and an in-person acoustic fundamentals short course in Philadelphia (May 15–18, 2026), with mentored in-person research approximately 40 hours per week between May 28 and Aug 7, 2026. Applicants must be U.S. citizens eligible to work in the U.S., at least 18 years old at program start, and have completed at least two semesters of undergraduate study at a 2- or 4-year institution (including community colleges); the program targets students who have faced significant barriers to STEM opportunities.
