Sustainable Minerals, Metals, and Materials

About this program

The Research Corporation for Science Advancement (RCSA), with support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and The Kavli Foundation, sponsors the Sustainable Minerals, Metals, and Materials Scialog (2024–2027). The program brings approximately 50 early-career researchers together to develop cross-disciplinary collaborations addressing sustainable design, production, recycling, and extraction of materials critical to a low-carbon energy system, with potential team awards for resulting projects. Eligible participants include early-career faculty—from their first year in a faculty position through recently post-tenure—working in fields such as chemistry, materials science, geology, ecology, engineering, and energy systems modeling. Applications for the 2027 meeting must be submitted by March 15, 2027; applications for the 2026 meeting are closed.
