Sutherland Prize

About this program

The American Society for Legal History offers the $500 Sutherland Prize annually for the best article on the legal history of Britain and/or the British Empire published in the previous calendar year. Authors must nominate their eligible article by emailing an electronic copy to the prize committee chair at sutherlandprize@aslh.net by June 1, 2026. The committee may also consider articles nominated by its chair.
