TERF Education and Research Grants (Education, Research, Scholarships, Summits)

About this program

TERF, Inc., a 501(c)(3) foundation, solicits electronic applications for education grants, research grants, scholarships, and summit/meeting funding that support Thoroughbred health and welfare with priority for making racing safer; funding amounts are unspecified and TERF does not fund overhead/indirect costs. Eligible applicants are qualified, current 501(c)(3) organizations; only electronic submissions are accepted (education grant deadline April 1; research grant deadline June 30) with notifications by July 1 for education and September 1 for research. Education proposals must describe purpose, format, instructors (CVs/degrees), facility needs, detailed budget and participant fee use, while research proposals must include a mission statement, lay abstract, detailed project description linking to TERF’s mission, budget, timeline/milestones, references and prior research/TERF fund use; summit proposals follow similar protocols. Funded projects must provide prompt acknowledgement, progress reports, a detailed outcomes summary and visuals within specified post-project timelines, and failure to submit required deliverables or prior TERF reports will jeopardize future funding; TERF will not fund facilities that care for unwanted or retirement horses.
