Texas History Program

About this program

The Summerlee Foundation’s Texas History Program provides grants for projects preserving and interpreting Texas history across fields such as archaeology, archives, museums, education, preservation, publications, and scholarly research. The next opportunity is the Winter 2027 cycle, with project discussions scheduled from October 19 through November 23, 2026, followed by invitation-only LOI and application stages. Applicants must be IRS-qualified 501(c)(3) public charities or governmental units, and organizations are asked to wait 18 months after receiving a Summerlee grant before reapplying. Grants do not support individuals, religious purposes, monuments or memorials, courthouse restoration, lobbying, or organizations misaligned with the Foundation’s mission.
