The Company of Biologists Support Grants

About this program

The Company of Biologists Support Grants provide travel funding for independent group leaders/PIs who are current British Society for Cell Biology (BSCB) members with no other travel funds, to attend virtual or in‑person meetings, conferences, workshops, practical courses, PI laboratory management courses and retraining. Awards are up to £150 for online events, £500 for UK meetings (including the BSCB Spring meeting), £700 for Europe and £1,000 for the rest of the world, and may be used for standard‑class travel, accommodation and registration fees (subsistence and entertainment excluded); payments require supporting receipts and decisions are discretionary and usually made monthly. Applicants may apply for only one conference per year and a maximum of six awards in total, must submit applications at least six weeks before the meeting via the BSCB online portal, and direct debit members must have held membership for at least 3 months (non‑direct debit members at least 1 year). If requesting funds to attend a workshop or meeting the PI must present data (not required for retraining courses); enquiries to travelgrants@bscb.org.
