About this program
Biographers International Organization offers the annual Hazel Rowley Prize, awarding $5,000 to an outstanding first-time biographer, along with an agent’s proposal review, one year of BIO membership, conference registration, and publicity. Applicants worldwide must be writing in English on an uncommissioned, unpublished biography and must not have previously published a book-length biography, autobiography, history, or narrative nonfiction; memoirs are ineligible. Submissions require an online form, $25 fee, and a single PDF of up to 20 pages containing a proposal, writing sample, and résumé, due March 1.
