The Jan Anderson Carers Award

About this program

The Australian Society for Biophysics (ASB) offers the Jan Anderson Carers Award, an annual travel support scheme providing one international award (up to $2,000) and one national award (up to $1,000) to assist ASB members with primary caring responsibilities to attend scientific conferences. Funding may cover additional childcare at home or the conference, travel costs for an accompanying carer to remain at home, travel costs for children and an accompanying carer, and similar caring-related expenses. Eligible applicants must have been ASB members for at least two years immediately prior to nomination and have primary caring responsibilities (children, elderly parents, or other family members); selection considers publication quality and impact, service to the biophysics community, and teaching excellence. Apply by email to the ASB secretary with conference details, accepted abstract or invitation, and a short description of caring responsibilities and proposed use of funds; applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
