The John D. Michenfelder New Investigator Award

The Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC) offers the John D. Michenfelder New Investigator Award to recognize a junior investigator whose peer‑reviewed manuscript advances neurosurgical anesthesia and the care of critically ill neurologically impaired patients. The annual award carries no monetary prize but confers a plaque, an opportunity for an oral presentation at the SNACC Annual Meeting, and recognition on the SNACC website. Manuscripts must report original basic, translational, or clinical neuroscience research in anesthesiology and critical care and must have been published or accepted in a peer‑reviewed journal within the 12‑month period ending May 30 of the submission year; applications are accepted April 1–July 15. Eligible applicants are medical students, residents, graduate students, clinical fellows, postdoctoral fellows, or faculty within the first five years of appointment (parental/medical leave excluded); applicants must be SNACC members in good standing and attend the Annual Meeting in person to receive the award.
