The Entomological Society of America offers the Larry Larson Graduate Student Award for Leadership in Applied Entomology to honor graduate students demonstrating leadership in applied entomology; the prize (amount varies with endowment interest) includes a trip to Corteva Agriscience headquarters in Indianapolis, a commemorative gift, and an invitation to present a seminar at the ESA Annual Meeting. Eligible nominees must be ESA members who are final‑year master's students or first‑year Ph.D. students conducting research that addresses an applied entomological question; nominations may be submitted by anyone (with up to two self‑nominations per year). Nomination packets must be submitted electronically via the ESA awards SmApply site and received by ESA headquarters by June 1, and must include a CV, a student‑written research summary (max two pages), two letters of recommendation, a one‑page career goals statement, transcripts, and a signed professional conduct disclosure form, following file and formatting specifications. A designated panel scores candidates on leadership, teamwork, communication, problem solving, and contributions to applied entomology using a 110‑point scale; renominations are permitted within specified limits and packets are retained for two years.
