The Mary Isabel Sibley Fellowship — Greek and French Studies

About this program

The Mary Isabel Sibley Fellowship, administered by Phi Beta Kappa and established in 1934, provides an annual $20,000 stipend (alternating between Greek and French studies) to support women conducting full-time research abroad in Greek culture or French language and literature. Candidates must be women in the early stages of their research careers who demonstrate ability to carry out original research and who hold a doctorate or are ABD (all requirements except the dissertation). Applications require a work proposal (in English, and in French in alternate years when specified), transcripts, and three letters of recommendation; recipients need not be Phi Beta Kappa members or U.S. citizens, and concurrent positions may be allowed with Phi Beta Kappa approval.
