Michael H. Hunt Prize for International History

About this program

The Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations offers the $1,500 Michael H. Hunt Prize annually for a first book that provides fresh perspectives on international or global history since the mid-19th century. Eligible books must make substantial use of historical records in more than one language and demonstrate significant scholarly contributions, strong primary-source research, and high-quality academic writing. Authors, publishers, or SHAFR members may nominate books; nominations require a letter and three physical copies or page proofs, which must arrive by February 1, 2027, for books published in 2026.
