About this program

OSME’s Trevor Poyser Species Conservation Fund awards a single £5,000 grant each year to support individual species research and field-based conservation projects within the OSME region; applications are normally due 1 December for projects starting the following calendar year, with successful applicants usually notified by 31 December. Eligible target species are those listed as globally threatened by IUCN/BirdLife (a species table is provided), though other species of clear national importance may be considered after prior clarification with OSME (contact at least one month before the deadline). Projects must be primarily field-based, emphasise research and monitoring with clear conservation implications, and be compatible with any relevant international species action plans (AEWA, CMS, IUCN); desk- or laboratory-only studies and education/awareness projects are ineligible. The project leader must be a national of the project country, collaborations with external organisations are encouraged, and applications must be submitted in English on the standard form by email with the ability to receive funds via bank transfer.
