Theodore Saloutos Book Award

About this program

The Immigration and Ethnic History Society (IEHS) offers the annual Theodore Saloutos Book Award, including a $2,000 prize presented at the IEHS banquet during the Organization of American Historians conference, for the best book on any aspect of U.S. immigration history. Eligible books for the 2027 award must be copyrighted in 2026, based on substantial primary research, and offer a major new scholarly interpretation; edited collections and multi-authored books are excluded. Authors, publishers, IEHS members, or prize committee members may nominate a book by December 31, 2026, with nominations submitted to saloutosaward@iehs.org and hard copies sent to each committee member.
