Thomas H. Smouse Memorial Fellowship

About this program

The Thomas H. Smouse Memorial Fellowship, supported by the Archer Daniels Midland Foundation, the AOCS Foundation, AOCS and Dr. Smouse’s family and friends, funds graduate research in fats, oils, proteins, surfactants and related materials and provides a US $10,000 honorarium, up to $5,000 for research/travel, custom inscribed bookends and an opportunity to present an award lecture at the AOCS Annual Meeting. Eligible applicants are graduate students who are AOCS members conducting fundamental investigations in the specified fields, have not previously received the Smouse Fellowship, and must have a major professor who is also a current AOCS member. Candidates must be nominated by their academic advisor and submit required materials including the advisor’s nomination letter, at least three letters of recommendation, official transcripts, a detailed CV and an abstract for the current year’s AOCS Annual Meeting.
