About this program
SHAPE America’s Thomas L. McKenzie Research Award (administered by the SHAPE America Research Council) offers one or more annual awards of up to $2,000 to support the development of graduate students and early-career researchers in physical education, physical activity, and public health. Funding prioritizes behavioral studies (not mentalistic or biological outcomes) of physical activity in natural environments (schools, parks, homes) and research linking activity to disease prevention, at individual, group, or policy levels; laboratory or rehabilitation projects are not eligible. Applicants must be SHAPE America members and either current graduate students or within four years of graduation; they should review application requirements and submit required materials, including a one-page letter to Dr. Emi Tsuda by December 10 at 11:59 p.m. EST (year not specified).
